A Life Remembered

Recently, our family lost the oldest living relative. He was 99 years old and spent his life helping those around him cope with everyday life. This painting, A Life Remembered, is a tribute to him. After his passing I dreamed of this painting and I couldn't rest until is was finished. The green and blue background is where I fell safe. This abstract is founded in a cross section of a calla lily.

The brilliant white petal was his shinning personality. The soft pale yellow inside the flower was his soul. And lastly, the orange, red and blue thin flame, the stamen, was his intense life form. Where the stamen of a flower gives nectar, this life form gave comfort to those he touched.

He will be dearly missed.
